Night Fighter Claim on July 15 1944
 

Hello,

did somebody know who (most probably nightfighter) could claimed victory over Ju 88 in area Thorney, France, at 21:10, probably nearby Tournai, Belgium on July 15 1944.

S/L P.L. Burke in Mosquito XVII, HK248 of the 219 Sqn claimed one Ju 188 destroyed SW Caen during night 14/15 July. I cannot localize "Thorney" in France however Tournai in Belgium is far from Normandy area.

It was transfer flight, no combat flight, from A/F Bretigny-sur-Orge to A/F Chievres. In German Documents is mentioned location Thorney, but I supposed iit could be Tournai, Belgium, which is not far from A/F Chievres.

The route plan definitely eliminated Burke´s participation.
Tournai, Belgium is only 35km from Chievres, and should be the right name. No.515 Sqn lost one Mosquito near Charleroi what is not so far from Tournai area ...
