South Atlantic Air Bridge, 1941-45?

I have been trying, without success, to find sources on the South Atlantic Air Bridge from the USA, via Brazil to Africa and the Middle East, by which the USA supplied thousands of Lend-Lease aircraft to its allies.

Could anyone please advise me as to sources which might answer such questions as when the first Brazil-Africa delivery flight was made, how many aircraft crossed the Atlantic from Brazil to Africa each month over 1941-45 and what types they were, what losses were suffered en route from the USA to the Middle East, etc., etc.

Many thanks,

Sid Guttridge.

Hi EdWest,

Many thanks for your help. However, I have already consulted both. The former doesn't have the detail I am looking for, while the latter, although in my opinion an absolutely first rate book, doesn't really cover this particular subject.

Cheers,

Sid.
