B-17 wreck found in North Sea

Belgian media report today (Mon 25 Jun 2018) that a B-17G was found in the North Sea during works for a new high tension cable between England and Belgium. No location provided so to keep away unwanted attention.

Although first finds where in summer of 2017, news was now released after confirmation of type. Further searches revealed other parts like aluminum plating. It appears parts of other aircraft are also in vicinity.

Newspapers also report that human remains were found in the B-17 too. If so, another difficult identification process?

Investigations are going on to first clearly identify the B-17, with some four candidates.

I'll keep you folks updated.

Similar to a Shorts Stirling that was found in Norway during work for a power cable.

Interesting to see what details come from it. May be another crew's fate answered.
