April 1,1945 III/KG(J)-27 combat w/ 332nd FG?

THe 332nd FG engaged in combat with large number of enemy A/C- types Me109/Fw190 on April 1,1945. Over all, they claimed twelve enemy aircraft.

According to LW records, at least two LW Fw-190D-9 ,Werke No 500 648 & 500 658, belonging to III/KG(J)-27 were lost in combat.

Was KG(J)27 the unit that engaged the 332nd FG in combat? The 332nd FG lost two P-51s in this combat with both pilots KIA.

Where did the combat you ask about take place?

One of the MACR (13337-Lt.Walter Manning-301st FS) indicated that the plane was last seen " 1/4 mile to 15 miles south of Wels, Austria"

Hello there,

WNr. 500648 should be a Fw wearing a big Ta 152 tail according to a well educated guess of David E. Brown. See http://falkeeins.blogspot.be/2011/05...a-with-ta.html or http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...6861&hl=500648

Best regards,

Philippe

I found this info on the Web:
"KG(J) 27 was stationed at airfields in southern Germany and in Austria, with III.Gruppe in Wels, Austria. After heavy losses in combat at the beginning of April, 1945, the unit was officially disbanded on April 9th."

The location is correct so it's very probable that the 332nd FG tangled with III/KG(J)-27

Thank you very much for this information!
Interesting fact, even though they all belong to 9./KG(J)-27, the color of their numbers range from weiße to gelbe to schwarze
