Attack on trains after D-day, north Belgium

Hi,
Witch fightergroup, squadrons, USAAF or RAF where involved in attacks on trains in the period between D-day and september 1944 above Nort-east Belgium?
In this period some fighters stopped a train close to my grandparrents house...

Are there any ORB's, claimlists or dayreports?

Regards,
Wim

In the USSBS files at NARA, there is Entry 23, 2.o.(22) Summary, strafing attacks on transportation targets by First Air Force, Eight Air Force, Ninth Air Force, Twelfth Air Force and Fifteenth Air Force:
a) by city (5 Vols.)
b) by date (5 Vols.)

I don't know what is contained in there, but it might be a starting point.

Kind regards,
Daniel

It would help if we knew where your grandparents lived. Could you narrow the time of search ? To a specific date or week ?

Otherwise there are 10.000+ possibilities.

Hi,

It was between D-day and 8 september 1944 in Mol (Ezaart - Hessie) Belgium.
Raiway Mol - Antwerp. The train was shot en stopped in Mol-Ezaart, (it is between the city's Mol and Geel).

Wim

This action in this time-Frame could be executed by any allied fighter squadron operating in North-West Europe that time. In your case, you'll find accurate results by an exact date plus and much better, a time of the attack.

Additionally, I agree completely with the post of ClinA-78 at 16:28 hrs today.

Good luck !
