I've researched the Axis Air Forces in Italy in 1944-45 and there do not appear to have been any air-to-air combats that day.

Michele
2/Lt Hoyle is recorded as "last seen in bombing dive at L 5787" which is the RAF map reference used at the time. If you know the very helpful webiste at http://www.echodelta.net/mbs/eng-welcome.php L5787 translates as 44 degrees 49' 51" N, 10 degrees 55' 24" E. Steve |
