Luftwaffe equivalent ‘Combat Diary’ KG2

Hi folks

Over coming months I will be helping a colleague with research into a KG2 pilot and wonder; are there Luftwaffe equivalent/s of the Bomber Command War Diaries (Middelbrook et al) or the various publications on the Mighty Eighth by Freeman.

I note two books ...
"Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe ..." by de Zeng (here on TOCH I note) and Stankey
"Der Luftkrieg in Europa ..." by Ulf Balke

Are they where to start? Is Balke available in English? Are there other books we should view?

Many thanks for your thoughts, Don

Your best bet is Ulf Balke's books on the history of KG 2 but they are in German. However, don't expect a detailed day to day analysis. The best source would be his Flugbuch or Leistungsbuch. If you gave us his name there might be some here who could help you. For example I was in touch with the families of three 6./KG 2 pilots
