Re: eBay: German intrest
Item 7-post #2334 of eBay: German Interest on July 31 is an image of
an LG 1 Ju 88 apparently damaged in an RAF bombing raid on Benina airfield in Libya on 20.11.41. In the first volume of Taghon's LG 1 book, damage is listed for six Ju 88 A-5s, three each with either 75% or 100% damage. Looking at the image, my guess the subject has 75% damage which should be either W.Nr. 3347, 4339 or 5275. Enlarging the image and playing with contrast, a fuzzy 4-digit W.Nr. can be made out. My 84 year old cataract corrected eyes best take is 4339. Can anyone with better image enhancement program and eyes confirm if 4339 is the correct W.Nr.? Thanks in advance, Artie Bob |
Re: eBay: German intrest
Hi. Before seeing the WNr options you found I had it starting with a 4 so that fits. Running it through a few filters I it is still not very clear although the second and third digits appear to be the same and '3' is one number that fits the shape. Mike

Re: eBay: German intrest
Can anyone verify the seller is correct in claiming the photos are of
"Focke Wulf Fw 190 Flugzeug von RKT Fritz "Paul" Lüddecke 51.Luftsiege JG 51"? I see basically only ground crew with one or possibly two exceptions. Can't but help wondering who "Hanni" was..... Anyway, it is the aircraft I am most interested in. Cheers Stig |

Re: eBay: German intrest
Hello Stig,
The pictured machine is an FW 190 A4,"black 6", flown by Lüddecke from early March 1943 until April 14, 1943. He made his 2nd and 3rd claim while flying this airplane. Lüddecke then began flying FW 190 A5, "black 6" on April 15, 1943. The A5 possibly was w.n. 5864. Russ |

Re: eBay: German intrest
Once again, thank you, Ed.
Number 18 in your post above are excerpts from the flugbuch of Karl Baur. The very last item are the times that Baur gave introductory flights to Watson's Whizzers in Me 262 B-1 "Vera" and his transfer of "Doris" to Melun. It is much appreciated. Jim |
