Crashlanding of F/Lt.D.C.Wilkins at October 29th, 1944.

Dear friends,

At October 29th, 1944 F/Lt.D.C.Wilkins(101007) from no.4 Sqn. had to make a forcelanding near Tilburg in the Netherlands. He was flying the Spitfire PR.XL PL853. He made the landing in still occupied area because he became pow. The town and direct surroundings of Tilburg were just liberated during the days before October 29th.
Does anyone know where Wilkins made has crashlanding and at what time at October 29th, 1944?
Looking forward for your answers,

Jaap

Hello Jaap,

FCL vol 3 page 111

has

"High level photo sortie, pm.
Engine trouble, north of Tilburg,
force-landed."

FCWD vol 5

has

" a Tac/R Spitfire pilot failed to return from a mission over Holand."

Thats all

So, North and in the pm.

Alex
