UN Fighter Wing Katanga 1960-163
 

Hello,
the Imperial Iranian Airforce supported this UN-Unit with F-86 as I know.
How many planes served from the IIAF? And how many sorties they flew and lost the any plane in action?

As a sidenote: things have changed considerably since then: the Iranian jet fighters made two stops in Saudi Arabia on their ferry flight...
Not very likely to happen now.

It seems to indicate that the Iranian F-86 were supplementary reinforcements, and did not arrive in time to see combat.

What countries represents the United Nations "Air Force" that was in the Congo area? Did this "UN Air Force" seen air combat?

What I gathered is that the BAF sent 2 x C-119s and 4 x CF-100s to Congo to liven up the 10-year celebration of the Kamina (air) base in July 1959. This before the independence of Congo and the later separation of Katanga.

The jet fighters were of the 1st Fighter Wing.

Not related to the UN air mission.
