Re: Photo Morane Saulnier

Hello Stig,

Kind of you to say so, but I was getting a bit worried about my quality control, which I wouldn't like to see slip any further. Not just the french aircraft and after all I have a copy of Davilla and Soltan's French Aircraft of World War One, so I could have looked up the Morane Salnier LA.

Also I find myself quite annoyed that I posted the links to the Halberstadt C.III and Albatros D.XII as the pictures were well known and could be found just using a google image search. Annoying. I , at least need to take more time before posting. But once again thanks anyway for the kind words.

Regards,

Clint

Hi,

# 5 : This a/c is the Morane Parasol n°937 of N31 lost on 10 july 1917. MdL C. Gauthier and Sdt A. Denis were POW. At this time N31 just arrived at the A/F of Coudekerque-Branche (Dunkerque). French Air Service War Chronology 1914-1918 by Bailey/Cony gives that they have been shot down by Vfw G. Strasser of JAsta 17 posted at Ghistelle (OStende, Belgique).

That was interesting Bertrand

I wasn't aware Type LA was in use as late as that.
Thanks for the update

Thanks for this

Same photo are in the files of Service Historique de la Défense (SHD) under ref B87.1147 or B86.4258

Nevertheless the name of Boutiny is not in the caption

Read Jules, Marie, Georges de Boutiny born 1886

Posted to 48, 23 and 49 where injured on 11/1916

Hi Bertrand,

Thanks. I suspect based on a couple of postings I've made recently that MS.394 is probably also shown on albindenis. So perhaps I should now check there.Have you the Escadrille? I've checked MS 48 and no photo there of this machine.

Clint

Re: Photo Morane Saulnier

Hello Bertrand,

In my search for MS.934 I've come across various modelling links suggesting the aircraft possibly served with MS 12. Was de Boutiny just visiting then perhaps?

Hi Bertrand

I admit I am not into pilots as such, but there is another photo of this Gentleman, which I take is a close up of him sitting in the same type N, here:

https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Vue-aerienne....c100010.m2109

As you can see he is called Louis de Boutigny
Is there any possibillity we are talking about a different pilot?

Cheers
Stig
