Dear Friends,

with great proud I can announce the coming release of the book 'Airfields in Wartime, Dutch Airfields during the Occupation and Liberation 1940-1945'.

After many years of research by the 'Airfield group' of the Study Group Airwar 1939-1945 the manuscript was finalized. It was handed over to the NIMH (Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie, Dutch Historical Branch of the Ministry of Defence) and they did an enourmous and great job in editing and aligning the manuscript.

The link below will divert you to the publisher and there is information (in english) on how to order the book. Please be aware that the book is written in Dutch only! Also attached from the flyer the front cover of the book and description (translated below).

Airfields in Wartime

Dutch Airfields during the Occupation and Liberation 1940-1945
In the Second World War the Dutch territory had an important strategic position for the warring parties. From the start of the war the German Luftwaffe constructed many airfields. In the last year of the war these airfields were conquered by the Allies and from these airfields the war against Nazi Germany was continued. This book is the first complete study of the forty Dutch airfields and the role they played in the air war. The
book contains a large number of clarifying maps and unique photos, partially in colour.

€39,50 - ISBN 978 90 8506 823 5 - 520 pages, 17x24 cm - hardcover, illustrated - the book will be published in November 2009.

I have this book now for a month and I can highly recommended to all who are interested in this subject. Every airfield is in it and also the dummy airfields. Nice maps of the fields and many unkown to me pictures of the
live around including aircraft. The units wich made use of it are named.
Its a pitty for the English readers its in Dutch. This book must be translated as soon as possible.

Since the book came out (officially) in december I was asked not to buy it but to be a good little boy and remain patient. Well all that being good paid off as I was rewarded with this great book.

Hats off, great publication. Not only high quality printing, but more importantly a great source of information combined with a very good presentation (pictorial etc).. The book goes beyond what is promised by the title and covers many interesting topics (material, organisational etc.).

A very good read and continued source of information.
