Hartman and Starfighter

Did Erich Hartman ever flew on F-104 Starfighter?

Re: Hartman and Starfighter

No. Definitely not. He had strong opinions on the 104, but not a second of first-hand experience.

Thank you very much!!! So it might to be that he only flew Fiat G.91? Sorry for this questions but I don't know anything about his post war service :(

Re: Hartman and Starfighter

Hartmann flew T-6, T-33, F-84 and F-86. Joined the new Luftwaffe in 1956. Did his conventional refresher in Landsberg on T-6s, was converted to jets at Fuerstenfeldbruck (T-33) in '57, then went to the U.S. for combat training on F-84 with Rall, Obleser and a handful of other WW II aces. Became Kommodore of JG 71 "Richthofen" in Ahlhorn, later Wittmund. Quit the Luftwaffe in 1970 as Oberst (Colonel). Wasn't in very high esteem as a leader.
