1 Attachment(s)
Dear friends,

again an update of the Errata sheet for Bodenplatte. Again some additional information and corrections. Mainly concerning crashsites and losses. Have fun and please send more corrections to me per PM or e-mail if you notice them!

Thanks,

John.

Thanks for updating and making this available John. Each update is downloaded, printed and inserted into my volume :)

Do you have any problem with my making this available on your book thread over on the LEMB?

Cheers

John,

Could you mark next time the new or changed lines?
It makes reading a bit easier.

Re: Errata sheet for Bodenplatte (issue 5)

Jaap,

Well, the updates are done more or less through the year and I make an update once a year on the board. Hence the issue. If you have the last two issues and do "track changes" in Word, you can simply see the changes. To be honest, I don't want to make it more work for myself....

Cheers and hope to see you in Volkel,

John

Hello John,

The quality of an excellent referencebook and the humble attitude of its author, acknowledging that there will always be new additions or corrections, is shown by your kind effort to publish the 5th errata list.

'Bodenplatte' therefore stays the most complete and trustful description of all those Luftwaffe losses on January 1th 1945, whereas other famous reference works - without any regular errata - gradually become outdated. A true honor to the late Ron Pütz who should be remembered for taking up the giant challenge with you many years ago!

I must ashamely admit that I still have to buy your book but I really will do so a.s.a.p. !

Best wishes, Marcel

Re: Errata sheet for Bodenplatte (issue 5)

Hi John,

I've attached a PDF of transcripts of RAW ULTRA messages from the HW 5 series (so far HW 5/640-644 is all I've databased - for non-Nachtjagd material - to date) for 1 January 1945, containing a lot of info on losses. While I realise that you already have most of these, there may be the odd one that you don't have. I also notice in at least one errata entry, you quote the time as given in ULTRA, which was always strictly GMT. In the listing I have corrected the times from GMT to German time by the addition of 1 hour.

Cheers

Rod

Re: Errata sheet for Bodenplatte (issue 5)

January 1st a Fw 190 made a belly landing between Niederelbert and Unterhausen (near Montabaur), pilot unhurt, talking about engine problems.

maybe the one Fw190 with place Unterbauer ??

Page 281: According to ULTRA Reports two Fw 190A-8 of III./JG 11 made belly landings on 1.1.45; WNr. 733770 near Sonnenkahl (?) and WNr. 960460 near Unterbauer

Just a suggestion - nothing further known about this plane
