Anthony (Tony) P. Kearns R.I.P.

This is to inform colleagues that sadly the noted Irish aviation historian Anthony (Tony) P. Kearns passed away on Sunday.
Tony was the father of aviation research in Ireland. Beginning his lifelong work during the 1950s or 1960s when archives were mostly not open to the public. When the internet, email or forums like TOCH were undreamed of and the standard published works we depend on so much were still far in the future. It was all pen and paper back then and meeting people in person.
Tony was the expert on the Irish Air Corps and the first to investigate in depth the stories of the Allied and German aircraft which crashed or landed here in (neutral) Ireland during WW2.
He will be missed. My sympathies to his family.

Martin Gleeson.
