5(F)./122 1940-41

This staffel operated from Hautefontaine (between Compiegne and Soissons) from 13 Jul 40 to 16 June 1941. During this time, the officers were billeted in Chateau Martimont-can anyone confirm this?

5.(F)/122
November 1940: transferred from Haute-Fontaine (Attichy) to Beauvais-Tille and remained there until June 1941, although some operational sorties were staged through airfields along the French coast or from Jersey in the Channel Islands.
[ADI(K) P/W interr.sum.]

The last mention of Haute-Fontaine in my notes was on:
29 October 1940: Ju 88 A-l damaged taxiing at Haute-Fontaine, 8%.

Thanks guys but the LB copy I have shows the Staffel still at Hautfontaine 5 Dec 40. In Mar 41 they were operating from Jersey and in April 1941 Paluel and then again Hautfontaine before heading east. Perhaps I should have made it clearer that my question was the billet for the officers-maybe some of our French members can comment?

Hi Chris

The Flugbuch I have confirms that 'my man' from this unit transferred to Haute-Fontaine on 14th July 1940 and transferred out on 16th June 1941 (with various short-term moves to Jersey, Reims, Beauvais, Laon-Couvron, etc. in between). Frustratingly I have nothing in his papers that I can find relating to billets!

Thanks Tim-'your' man was still an NCO though?

Re: 5(F)./122 1940-41

Since it was common for Aufkl. units to operate on active fronts in Kette- and Schwarm- size detachments deployed wherever tactical considerations dictated, it is often pretty difficult to identify exactly where the Staffel Schreibstube (orderly room), Qu and other stationary offices were located at any moment without the Staffel's KTB. Flugbuecher are helpful, but like the Gen.Qu.(6.Abt.) loss reports they can often lead one astray. Just sayin'.

Hi,

I can add from another logbook:
Koeln-Ostheim
Marquise
Abbeville-Drucat
but mostly Haute-Fontaine

Hello

Martimont is a Hamlet of Croutoy and there is a castle, today a guest house. The airdrome was established in those villages.

Sincerly.
