Messerschmitt Bf 109. The Yugoslav Story, Vol. 2. Operational Record 1939–1953.

Hi Boris

have you mentioned the nice story about the LW, Corat, American and at last Polish (318 Polish Sq) Me 109 G-14 AS black 4.

Hi Boris,

as I am interested on the top ace Mato Dukovac, I would like ask you if there is the full list of his victories. If I remember well (unfortunately right now I have no access to my data), Dukovac was officially credited with 44 individual victories plus one NC, but up to now not all the datas (days, e/a...) are identified.

Are there new pictures of his personal planes?

Thank you
Flavio

Re: Messerschmitt Bf 109. The Yugsolav Story, Vol. 2. Operational Record 1939-1953.

Hi Flavio,

In the book, there is a description as well as full list of all his victories: 37 confirmed, 7 unconfirmed and two w.b. From these, with the help of our friends Andrey Kuznetsov and Ivan Lavrinenko we have established with very high degree of certainty who was he fighting against in all but just one case.

In summer 1944, Croat AF authorities confirmed his previously 7 unconfirmed claims and raised his score to 44. Still, in Luftwaffe his score never surpassed 37. Interestingly, after his defection to the Soviets in September, his score was downgraded back to 37 by the Croats.

As for his planes, there are photos of several that he surely flew, but for most of the time in 15.(kroat.)/JG 52 everybody was flying what was available and operational at the moment.

Cheers,
Boris

Hi all,

I just added "Foreword" to http://wingsofserbia.com/category/me...ory-volume-ii/ web site. I will also add some sample pages from the book in the next days.

There is a small amendment in the contents as there won't be 10 but rather 11 appendices: we managed to squeeze a new one containing the list of Bf 109s with their W.Nr. delivered by Germans to Bulgaria, with take-over dates.

The printers got all the necessary files and should start the work on Monday. I was told to expect the first examples within a week.

Cheers,
Boris

PS Could somebody with the authorization fix the title of the topic, as it should be "Yugoslav" rather than "Yugsolav"

Hi all,

I'm glad to announce that I received first examples of the book from the printers this evening. The printing quality is on the level with Volume I. First shipments will follow in the morning :)

Congratulations! I am really looking forward to reading it, particularly to see if you came to the same conclusions like I did in regards of 'Gustavs' in Bulgarian markings.
The manuscript of my book about Bulgarian fighters and fighter trainers is now closed, so the timing is about right.
