I’ve got informations that Edu Neumann was awarded Ritterkreuz, but I don’t trust the sources. From the other side, I’ve got a photo of him made in January 1945 – he had no RK in that time.
Did Edu Neumann receive Ritterkreuz? If so, when was he awarded?

I don't think Edu ever got the "tin tie" Nef - do you have a scan of that pic? I don't really have many pictures of Edu, and it makes my job all the harder. Doing artwork, that is.

Best regards,

Cori

As a personal note, I wrote Neumann twenty years ago, to explain comments he made concerning my uncle, who was under his command in Africa. He was anything but helpful, indeed, he was rude and told me not to bother him, as he was being inundated with requests from collectors.

Thank You very much for all the informations. Indeed, good relations between Edu and Dolfo are clear visible on photos made in Africa in 1942, when Galland visited JG 27.
Cori – I’ll contact with You by e-mail about posting scans of the most interesting photos of Edu.

Nef

Thank you very much, Nef. I think I have my email displayed, if not, please do not hesitate to PM me.

Edu probably was a bit tired of everyone asking him about his most famous pupil - perhaps some irritation at that might be somewhat normal.

It's why I've really hesitated writing to any of the surviving aces - I'm afraid I would get the same response if I were to ask a small question in the same vein.

... and I'm rather sensitive. Perhaps they - the aces - might not want to be reminded of those past days. It might bring up painful memories.

Nice to see you here too, VtwinVince - I think I remember you from the Aerodrome forums!

He signed a number of those-he sent one to me like no doubt many others!

its about the cross. Does look like a RK

Re: Oberst Eduard Neumann

There is nothing around his neck? RK could not be worn like an EK1 & in any case this photo was taken in 1941 & judging by the last post on this ghost thread, nothing has emerged in last 11 years

Hi Jess

Drop me an e.mail. I have a full biography of Neumann. By memory he was born in Ukraine, and lived to be about ninety-five. I do have his D.O.B and D.O.D.

Kind Regards

Johannes

Johannes-unlikely you will get a mail as this has been dormant for 11 years & Jess has not been active since then!
