What Airplane and UNIT??

Hi friends of this forum,

recevied - unfurtunatelly poor quality - a pic showing a part of an crashed aircraft.
Can anybody identify it because of the number at the tail or other detail?
Most of interest is for me is type and unit and nationality.
Thanks in advance

Looks to be a French twin-engine something to me.

Hi Stephen,

based on info of a eye witness it must be a single engine.

I think there was a weird looking single engined French aircraft with twin tail and rear turret.... can't recall what it was though, perhaps that fits?

Hi, Rolfeb...

Notwithstanding what you say about the eye-witness recollection of it being a single-seater, and other contributors stating they think it's possibly a French aircraft, my first thought was that this was the vertical tailfin and rudder of a Heinkel He111, with the number '23' on the lower part of the right side of the rudder... admittedly, this is only a first impression.

Regards...

It have three colors in vertical distribution over the vertical rudder and the same vertical look like He 111. Style of letter can be as one of many styles used by Germans but similar can be found in other operators. Are you sure that wreck belong to only one plane, maybe they are scraped on pile there?

Cheers :)

Re: What Airplane and UNIT??

I doubt it. Rumanian He 111Hs had much smaller numbers on their fin.
If this is Nr. 28, I have a photo of the burned-out wreck of that particular machine, and the number is much smaller. If it's 23, that one survived the war.

Re: What Airplane and UNIT??

Definitely not.
No French aircraft wore tactical numbers on the fin - only on the fuselage.
Better look on the Russian side.
