Ju 88, Rothes 21/6/44

Hi

Anybody got any info on a German aircraft crashing near Rothes (Elgin) in Jun 1944?

Re: Ju 88, Rothes 21/6/44

Very probably this:
1944-06-21, 1.(F)/120, Ju 188 F-1, 280206, A6+HH, (England)
Flugzeugführer Lt Winne, Joachim, +
Schanze, Friedrich, +
Sebisch, Werner, +
Stallmann, Werner, +
Unbekannt. Bruch 100 %.
WNr. in the NVM is 280608, which seems to be incorrect. Could also be 281608?

See http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=204210

I entered it in the wikibase 5 days ago with the same WNr as given by Chris but Matti had another and noted that 280608 seems to be incorrect.

The hill was 3 miles NW of Rothes and a height of 1,200 feet so I leave it to you to work out!

Highest hills in that direction (hart Hill, Brown Muir) which are 906 and 1112ft.

Newspaper articles from the period, say the aircraft came down on a moor and a photo of the crash location supports this. Likely area for the crash was Stoney Hill NW of Rothes

Any further NW, the crash would have been nearer Elgin.
