The last bombs on Japan
Celebrated as "The last B-29 to bomb the Japanese Empire" and suitably decorated this is Capt. Daniel Trask's 42-63742 "The Uninvited" ( 502BG) Diamond H-26; this was the 315th Wing's 15th and last mission (XXI BC 328) to the Nippon Oil Refinery at Tsuchizaki on 14/15 August. Trask was last to take off from Guam (1858) and last to land (1200 on the 15th); others from the Wing landed later but had stopped off at Iwo Jima on the way back. XXI BC last missions (329-331) were earlier against urban areas and mining operations.
On landing he was informed that his was last to bomb, the last bombs recorded as 0339 on the 15th.The last 3 numbers of the serial (742) are on the 502nd mission list with his name and could only be 42-63742, 42-24742 was 498BG.
