Nightfighters
 

Hi,

I am a new member and have read a number of the strings with interest.
My own particular area of interest is RAF jet nightfighters of the 1950s.
At the moment I am researching DH Venom NF ops. Can anyone assist?

I served as a nav/rad during the 50's. Flew in all 4 marks of the Meteor, but am very pleased to say never set foot in a Venom.

You may both find much of interest in a very recent book. The History of Air Intercept Radar and the British Nightfighter, 1935-1959, but Ian White, published by Pen and Sword, ISBN 978-1-84415-532-3. A proper history book, not just a collection of anecdotes, written by a telecommunications expert.

Actually received a copy of the book yesterday. It appears to be very comprehensive and well written. Unfortuneately the publishers forgot to include the photos which the author had collected. I had a very small input to the book, so of course I thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in night fighters and radar.
