HE-219 Colors at Udvar-Hazy Museum
This weekend I photographed NASM's HE-219 and DO-335.
Can anyone say if the paint at the wingroot is original? HE-219 Thanks, Fred |
Re: HE-219 Colors at Udvar-Hazy Museum
Hi,
I was advised a year or so ago that they were retaining original paint finishes etc on their restored aircraft where they would be concealed after assembly, as a future source of authentic reference. I presume looking at the very good photos that this is exactly what they have done. HTH David |

just to confirm this, i have the photos of when the wingroots were first uncovered, and yes they have not overpainted them, so you are looking at the original paint scheme.

What about the cockpit section of He 219 stored in Prague?
I have heard the rumour that some pieces of UHU exists in one of Czech museums. Could any of You confirm that? Kuba |
Re: HE-219 Colors at Udvar-Hazy Museum
Last year I had the opportunity to visit the museum at Kbely including at least two storage areas and I couldn't identify any He 219 remains. I did see several Siebel 204 remains and a section of a Ju 52.
Would love to hear that more He 219 parts have survived though! /Mikael www.axisaircraft.com |
