Just received my copy. Overall, a well structured history of Spitfire PRU types, with some new photographs. Minor criticism. No mention is made of the captured Spitfire PRU captured by Luftwaffe. The Luftwaffe units are rarely mentioned but the Spitfire losses are well documented. Still these are minor shots. It's worth buying and a good companion to the Mosquito PRU Osprey book by Martin Bowman,

Re: Spitfire Photo-Recce Units of World War 2 (Combat Aircraft, 150)
Hello Kaki,
Thank you for the kind words about the book. Regards PR Spitfires captured by the Germans any mention of these is largely omitted due to the space constraints imposed by the series format. However, the circumstances of the loss of the first intact PR Spitfire to fall into German hands, Type B P9331 '9', is mentioned. At only 96 pages and ~35,000 words (excluding captions) you will appreciate there is only so much detail you can include and as such the book is really only an overview on the subject although I am pleased with how much information I managed to cram in considering the scale and scope of PR Spitfire operations. Cheers Andy Fletcher |
