B-29 crew positions - letter V

In a crash report of a B-29 (Sept 48) one crew member has "V" as his function, like P is for pilot.
Would "V" be the VHF radio operator?
Also, is "X" a passenger?

On another forum I heard that "V" is for radar operator and "X" indeed was a passenger ("eXtra").
