Re: Transcript of interrogation of Wolfgang Schellmann
It is an interesting document, but the published excerpt does not reveal that much... if anything really.

Re: Transcript of interrogation of Wolfgang Schellmann
As this is an english language forum, I fail to see the relevance of this post.

Hello VtwinVince,
When you download, after 20-30 seconds a "Translate" button will appear top right for the English version, but as Sidney suggests, it does not reveal much. Regards Peter |

Good morning Slayer & Co,
as far as I understand the article doesn't reveal when Schellmann upgraded from Bf109C to Bf109D, does it ? Kind regards, Michael |

All I have is - There is a photo of Bf109C 6o47 with 1 kill marking on the tail. According to another profile I have, Schellmann flew one with those markings. If it is his, I don't know if he scored the kill in the 109 or not. He had 3 kills to 24/3/38 per the book link I gave in your Ensslen thread. I have a profile of Schellmann's Bf109C 6o47 captioned Spring 1938. His next kills are 13 June and 25 June 1938, and there is a profile of his D-1 6o51 (supposedly the first D-1 delivered to Spain) captioned June 1938 with 4 kill markings on the tail. Peter |

Re: Transcript of interrogation of Wolfgang Schellmann
Good evening Peter,
if we take the info given in Robert Forsyth's "Aces of the Legion Condor" at face value Schellmann's Bf109C score must've been one (his 4th) because the subtype arrived at Spain in April (p93) wheras the D arrived "as spring gave way to summer" (p94). Schellmann's June Bf109D is depicted with 4 kill bars. Irritatingly, the 6-47 with one kill bar doesn't fit in. Either it was flown successfully by another guy or it arrived before April. Cheers, Michael |
