Re: No. 1 Coastal Patrol Flight info needed .... next book.

I have just completed my 4th book on a 220 Squadron pilot, and this is now with the proof readers. With ongoing research regarding 13 Squadron, which will take sometime I have now considered my next book.

My next book is on No.1 Coastal Patrol flight, based in at RAF Dyce, Scotland, during the early phase of WW2. I been provided with a copy of the ORB's but reaching out all on the forum to ask if they have, information, photos, extracts, why and how the flight was formed, its command structure. The smallest of information to help out with my book. You guys, as always get a mention in the acknowledgments, and thank you in advance for your time and help.

I know I turn to this forum a lot, and people like Chris and Martin, to name a few, always come to my rescue. And to you all very grateful indeed!

Cheers

Danny

Good luck! From what we can all see it was only in existence for 5 months and I have no combats it was involved in

Re: No. 1 Coastal Patrol Flight info needed .... next book.

Thanks Brian,

I think I have already tracked down two of the pilots families. There will be some more pleas on here. The beauty is there was only a few pilots that served with the flight. I am trying to write it in first person context which is a new challenge compared to my previous books. However, full factual details will be added as the ORB’s are very detailed!

As Chris says they did not really see any combat but they played a vital role in protecting shipping in the early phase of the Second World War.

Cheers

Danny

Is it true they flew Tiger Moths on such patrols?
