Counter to German data (Qu.75461, i.e. SE Noworossijsk) the plane has crashed 3 km NW Krymskaja. Maybe the plane not fell immediately after the damage.

According to preliminary data, the cause of loss was 7.62-mm MG fire (Russian 7.62-mm bullet was founded inside the plane). If the German version is right (air combat with Il-2s), it was from wing MG (some Il-2s had also 7.62 mm rear MG instead of 12.7 mm).

I'll try to analyse the circumstances later.

4./JG 52, 29.05.1943 Luftkampf um 18.20 Uhr, östl. Kjewskoje(Pl.Qu.76892).
FF - exchanges his Dogtag with Lt. v. Gordon ? Or Lt. v. Gordon exchanges the ring with Lt. Bühmann ?

Perhaps if you are able to find entry holes of bullets from front or behind, it would be made either by an rear-facing turret or an attacking aircraft. Just a theory.

Grim, it appears there is still flesh, so DNA x-checking should be possible...

Probably it was incorrect info initially from Volksbund or so.

Pl.Qu.76892 is far more close to the place in question. So it is Bühmann.
But the ring is a puzzle.
About Dogtag exchange between the pilots - a strange practice if it was really.

I'm far from the place of the finding. But don't sure that finding of the bullet hole is possible. The bullet was discovered among the plane's electric wiring.

Remains and pilot's personal property were handed over to Volksbund.

Some papers were discovered, last 3 digits of WNr 19489 are visible. So it is Bühmann's plane without doubt.
