..Looking for help please obtaining extracts from this volume. Specifically does he describe his 15th - P/O John Rowden's 64 Sqn Spitfire downed over Mardyck in April 1941

Not seen the book Neil but if interested I have a photo of Rowden and of course his crashed plane

thanks very much Chris. I don't have an image of Rowden as it happens. There seems to be a fair amount of material on the RAF side but despite the fact that Rowden came down more or less on the airfield not so much from JG 51 - aside from the crash photos..nothing in the Geschwader history (or even the Osprey come to that..). Your own very nice feature in 'Aces' (No.14) didn't quite go that far..

The numbers of times photos of his crash come up on eBay amazes me-it looks like everyone in JG 51 took a photo of the crash including, sadly, his body. I got my copies from Victor Mölders. There is a set for sale still now:

Thanks for the heads-up...no sign of Fözö on any of those, he is present on a couple of similar images of the crash.. Thanks for the offer of a scan

I knew had the Fözö-book, but it took some time...

On the pages 235-236 he describes his fifteenth kill. Two Spitfires went down, the first one he took care of, that's the one who went out over the water and crashes into it.

The second was shot down by the flak: " Da setzt die Flak ein, ein paar Tiefschüsse, und wie ein welkes Blatt trudelt die Machine abwärts, klatscht auf die Küste, dicht am Meer, liegt flach in den Sand gestreckt, die Flächen bersten mit einem Krachen, das ich zu hören meine. Der Pilot ist tot."

And this second one, the flak-kill, IMW must've been John Rowden.
