Hi Kaiyan, then the date doesn´t match :-(

If this is Blenheim abd date 10.5.1940 is correct, then only possibilities are:
21. SQ - squadron code YH and then full marking is YHoX or YHoY - but I have no losses for this squadron
57. SQ - squadron code DX and then full marking is DXoY - this squadron lost L9245 over Netherland - https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=54116

But who knows ….

1 & 2. The first two Hurricane photos show P2644 which crashed at Marignane in France on 8 June 1940 during the first overland Hurricane ferry flight from England to the Middle East.
3. Almost certainly in Greece 1941 due to the mountain in the background and the Vokes filter.
4. P2873 'K' of 607 Squadron, damaged in France 18 May 1940 and later burnt.
5. No idea.
6. Hurricane Z4320 'WR' of 40 SAAF Squadron, crash-landed in the desert 10 April 1942.
9. Tomahawk 'KJ-I' of 4 SAAF Squadron crash-landed in the desert.

IF the EBay photo caption location and date of 10 May 1940 is correct then do not forget 18 Squadron (code 'WV') which flew Blenheims.
This unit lost two Blenheims in or near the Netherlands on 10 May 1940, with some or all of the crew killed in each case.
L1405, crashed near Wesel, Germany.
L8860, crashed near Venlo.
The aircraft individual letters are unknown to me.

Martin.

Hi Martin,

The first two Hurricane photos does not show an A/c which crashed
at Marignane in France on 8 June 1940.

If it crashed during a ferry flight from England to the Middle East this a/c is given at Loudun (300 kms south of Caen)

The many photos of this a/c taken by WH eliminate a plane crashed on the side of Marseille (Marignane) in June 1940 …

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

Bertrand,

I think you are correct. The two photos show what looks like a German soldier from a motorcycle or reconnaissance unit. They certainly did not reach Marseilles in 1940 ! Thanks for the correction.

Regards,

Martin.

Hi Bertrand and all,

is there more info about the machine P2644 from Marseille? Is there any photo or info in chronicle of some unit? I have a theory, that this machine is from 8.6.1940 and crashed somewhere in north-west France and pilot escape via south France and Marseille.
