RAF Beaufighter crash - Singapore - 1946-1947

Trying to put a finger on a possible RAF Beaufighter crash at Singapore in 1946-mid 1947.
The aircraft reportedly was spraying DDT but came too low and ended up in a lake resulting in the death of crew.
No. 84 Squadron involved?

Any lead welcome, thanks.

Regards,

Leendert

Re: RAF Beaufighter crash - Singapore - 1946-1947

Thanks, Alex.
I've now also checked online Singapore newspaper archives and what they tell us this and another Beaufighter crash in Jan 1946 (with pilot Maltese) have no connection with anti-malaria ops.
Perhaps another type involved, it seems.

Leendert,
Saw a mention of this incident whilst doing some research at The Rifles Museum in Wiltshire, last year. Unfortunately I didn't make note of the reference.

Hello,
So the a/c was confirmed in the newspaper to have been a Beaufighter ?
Also there were NO fatalities ?

Alex,

Have trawled thru online Singapore newspaper archives with several search criteria but so far no match (either with or without casualties) found with (a) Beaufighter on an anti-mosquito flight.

See http://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/newspapers/default.aspx

With some browsing, other fine (RAF) details may emerge there, even serendipitously...

Leendert

Re: RAF Beaufighter crash - Singapore - 1946-1947

Hello,
Could not have been 84 Sqdn as they had Mosquitoes from February 1945 until re-equiping with Beaufighters in November 1946.
So it may have been an 84 Sqdn Mosquito ? Or another squadron in the region that had Beaufighters.
