I./KG77 cock badge
According to some sources (e.g. Meyer-Stipdonk "Von der Fliegerschule zum Eisatzverband"; Chris Goss "Sea Eagles" vol. two), this badge was used by KGr 606 and then by I./KG77 (formerly KGr 606); some other sources (Ketley and Rolfe "Luftwaffe Emblems 1939-1945"; de Zeng IV and Stankey with Creek "Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945" vol. 2) state that this was the badge of the I./KG 77 only.
May anyone clear up this point? Thank you Gianandrea |
Re: I./KG77 cock badge
KGr 606's CO was Hahn=Cock & have a look at my book and you will see KGr 606 ac with this badge. Unit then became I/KG 77

Re: I./KG77 cock badge
Thank you for the answer.
I know that Hahn (cock in english) was the CO of KGr.606. But I wonder why the two other books I've mentioned, written by serious researchers, state that this was the badge of the I./KG77 only. Is that due to a mere mistake? Or does it come from any documentary evidence? Gianandrea |
