Restored Me 262?
This is probably old news, but the attached video shows a 109G-10 and 262 flying in a display over Berlin. The 262 looks a little weird, especially the engine pods--they look bigger than an original and I'm sure they are not Jumos!
What's the story on this 262? Is is a restoration or one of the new builds? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhOTB52hJKU&feature=related |
Re: Restored Me 262?
It's a "new" one, owned by the Messerschmitt foundation.

Re: Restored Me 262?
Thanks, Dan! As a 262 "Experten", do you know what jet engines do they use in these?

Re: Restored Me 262?
Googling might help out here, plus all the info that the video comentators typed in, not that I'd put much store by youtube comments.

Re: Restored Me 262?
From memory, they are GE J85s, or the civilian equivalent CJ610. Those are relatively small, and cheap. Well, cheap to buy anyway. "Cheap to run" and "jet" can't be used in the same sentence.

Yes, they are J 85's.
