ID of crash-landed 92 Squadron Spitfire?
Two old ebay shots showing a crashed Spitfire QJ-E of 92 Squadron in the Western Desert area. Unfortunately it seems that the serial was overpainted, but the fact that it came down in german held territory where it was photographed by seemingly quite relaxed soldiers, plus the fact that 92 Squadron received their Spitfires only in August 1942 lets me assume that this loss occured in late summer or autumn 1942, before the battle of El Alamein. Can somebody help with additional info on this bird?

Re: ID of crash-landed 92 Squadron Spitfire?
Thanks a lot Revi,
did not know this site (shame on me!). Apart from BR474 maybe ("abandoned on a tactical recce") the losses you found seem very promising. Maybe one of them was in fact our QJ-E. Does someone have any addtional info on this six examples, revealing the tactical code? Besides - is there any good published photo source for 92 Squadron's deployment in the Western Desert? The identity of this Crash Landed Spitfire V is in an issue of Flypast from the 90s. I'll take a look and get back to this.
