BF 109

Please what do you think of the book about the Bf 109 of Jan Forsgren published recently by Fonthill Media ?

Thank you

Alain

nobody ? I enjoyed Jan's Ju 52 book. His Bf 109 book is probably the best new concise general history in a while, certainly since David Isby's, although it is a much thinner tome. Subtitled a 'Design and Operational history', obviously in 260 pages it only skirts over many aspects that elsewhere have had entire books devoted to them. Includes chapters on foreign service and six pages on post-war Spanish 'developments'. Not a lot of pictures, but an interesting selection distributed through the text.

The sample pages on Amazon indicate that the word Jagd is constantly spelled "Jägd". It reminds me of another book (Take Budapest!) from a British publisher (The History Press) in which a German general's name was spelled 3 different ways within one spread. Is literacy dying?

It is. Probably not an issue for the English-language reader. Osprey editors certainly don't think so. But by the same token Rustsätze, Nahaufklärung, Schräge Muzik and Ergänzung are all spelled correctly ..plenty of other words that don't require the 'ä' don't have it. Bizarre

another one for you; Ritterkreuz is spelled 'Ritterkreutz' throughout
