Bf 109E at Stalingrad?
This photo has been captioned on another forum as being taken at Stalingrad.
A mix of E features (shown by the cowl and horizontal stab struts,) but has rounded wingtips like an F. Is that possible? Even by early Stalingrad, had not the E variants been out of front line service by a year? Bronc (Actually, this almost has to be a staged photo. Notice how that mystery beam is supporting the fuselage.) |

A well-known posed photo. Fuselage of E with wings of F. Brought to make a stage of shot down German fighter amongst the ruins. I/Sch.G.1 and III/Sch.G.1. were equipped with E types throughout the whole battle of Stalingrad. |
