Operation Scramble
I ran across this story on Operation Scramble flown by Ken Gatward and George Fern. I don't think it has been posted before.

Re: Operation Scramble
Swank, if memory does not fail me, the original idea was submitted by French pilots...I do not remember by heart now if this is described onto JUBELIN's lovely book (Marin de Metier, pilote de fortune) or on Mouchotte's war Diaries. The French asked for higher authorization several times but got no joy at all...then they learned that the RAF had done
"their original planned trip" for Propaganda purposes. The flight was postponed several times due to WX forecasts not suitable. A. |
