III./SG 4 JUNE 1944

The above unit was active up to around 12 June 1944 but after that, I can find nothing until it moved east at the end of the month. Was it temporarily withdrawn from the battle during this period pending its move?

Hi Chris,

Nick Beale has done an excellent job of telling the unit's story here: http://www.ghostbombers.com/sf/Normandy/sg4_1.html, including the period after 12 June 1944.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Andrew: I suspected you would answer this! Useful (I think Nick forgot he had done this as we have been talking) and it goes to show that as I suspected, its part over the Normandy Beaches was next to nothing after the first couple of days

It's not that I forgot, just my characteristic modesty! Actually, now I know you're after "what SG 4 did next", I was going to point you to my piece on Geschwader Bongart: http://www.ghostbombers.com/Bongart/GB_06.html

Start at 18 June 1944 and keep going.
