Marc,
A lot of confusion.
19769 wasn't found at Satellite N°9 but at Satellite N°6.
Prien wrote "Rammacca" in his old book but Satellite N°6 was known as Gerbini-Torazzo (or Santo Martino for the Italians). Ramacca was Satellite N°12.
Next, whatever the place, 19769 was said to be registered in III./JG53; so exit 6./JG53.

Satellite N°9 was "Spina Santa".
All three airfields (6, 9, 12) got unpaved airstrip and no such constructions like the hangar we can see on this picture.

Some "5" coded machines everywhere, so no way to point a specific airfield. We can see - but I'm not that sure - a partial II. Gruppe band. Is the code White or Yellow?
Not even sure it's a G-6 (Tail wheel bay open)

Last Gerbini-Main had "1 medium and 1 small hangar' (deZeng)
... Or Comiso, better.

Cheers,
Franck.

A not directly related, nevertheless interesting, question, prompted by one of the photos seen here: when did the size of the unit code (in front of the fuselage cross) change from regular to small size?

Thanks, in advance.

Thanks for your insight, Franck.

My only valid pointer for Gerbini / Foggia as a possible airfield for this 109 are the two photos of the I./KG 76 Ju 88's certainly documented there in late September 1943.
Careful checking of the known "Gelbe 5" AND positive identification of the destroyed hangar in the background will give us - hopefully - a better clue.

Cheers
Marc

Does anyone have more details/photos of that Stuka in a ditch?
I believe the photo was taken at Bayreuth-Bindlach.

Thanks,

You are welcome Marc,

... But Gerbini/Foggia ?... I do not understand.
Would like to see the Ju88s you're talking about.

Greetings Rudi,
Thank you for your postings.
Regarding this photo

I believe that it illustrates Fw 190 G-3 (WNr. 160485) marked 22 red and St.Kz. VL+ZI, found abandoned at Fl.Pl. Metz-Frescaty, France.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin
