GCII/7 claim over Corsica
In Les As de la Guerre 1939-1945 Lt Gabriel Gauthier and SGC Courteville are mentioned as making a claim for a S.79 on 2/11/43. None of my other sources mention this. Does anyone have any details of this claim?

Re: GCII/7 claim over Corsica
One Spitfire from GC 2/7 "Nice" Squadron make a take off for Alert from Campo del oro.
French plane come back Ajacio behind one italian plane SM 79 arrested . During the travel, SGC Courteville try to explain by sign to italian pilot, he need landing in Corsica, italians not want understand, Courteville make many piercing on rudder, wings ... After the landind, nobody was injuried in the SM 79, but the plane was completly pierced like a French Gruyere, especially right wing, one wheel and the tailwheel are destroyed. On ground, French soldiers "Tirailleurs" arrest the italian crew : 2 civilians and one dog. Source French book from D.Decot : Pilotes français sur l'Afrique du Nord et la Corse... Sorry for my bad practice of english language Best Regards, Dan |
