Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hi Snautzer,
First, thank you for posting these photos. Unless I am mistaken, the Fw 190 F-8 listed as being found at Straubing is in fact: Fw 190 F-8 (581443) ArWar, and was found at Bretigny-Vertle-Grand, France. I come to this conclusion by careful comparison of this photo with others in my collection. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello Steve , thank you for your detective work. Was there an Italian wreck at straubing?
Regards, |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hi again Snautzer,
I have no Italian aircraft listed at Straubing. However, that neans very little as I don't keep track of them. Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Maybe a Piaggio P.108T at Mühldorf-Mettenheim, app 70km east of Munich and 70km south of Straubing

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hi Snautzer,
Thanks for the hard work in finding and posting these photos. Unless I am mistaken, this is NFW-built Fw 190 F-9, WNr. 440340, captured Villa Franco, Italy in May, 1945. It was from at NSGr.9 and inadvertently landed at the US-occupied base during airfield during a delivery flight. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello yet again, Snautzer,
Regarding the Ju W34 on its belly in your post #86, other photos of it in my file point to its being: Ju W34 WNr. 005753, PF+AG (AG = o/l white), abandoned, fuselage only on belly in junkyard, Industriehafen Wenzendorf, Germany, after 45/05/08. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Thanks Steve, for giving these details, much appreciated
Regards, |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Ju W34 WNr. 005753, PF+AG the WNr. is wrong, the highest one for this type was 4091.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Merlin,
Thanks for the correction. I'll adjust my files accordingly. Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello again, Merlin,
Any idea on the corrrect WNr. for PF+AG? Thanks, Steve Sheflin |

Nice Marc-André. I remember from LEMB a FW190 that had no hood and was taxied around the airfield. Is this the same one?

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
You're welcome, Michiel; as for this Würger, it rings a bell. One of the SG2 machines which landed near Munich ?

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hey there guys,
this is Fw 190 A-5 2522 TF+LL, yellow (?) "4", captured in München-Oberwiesenfeld. There were other, similarly marked Fw 190s on this airfield. Perhaps they did belong to Lufkriegsschule 4? Thanks by the way for posting this links, Snautzer - I have been looking for a clean shot of this NSGr.2 Ju 87 D3+DL for years! (this one was also captured in Oberwiesenfeld) :) |

More on white 5 in Canada with to me unknown pictures.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Why would such an aircraft be sold to a private individual and why would it be scrapped at his farm? Something does not sound right. I doubt they were selling it for 100 dollars Canadian.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hi Ed
I can't attach the file, as it's a pdf and an error mentioned it's too big for the forum, of an article titled "Logans Air Force" in Aeroplane Monthly December 1996. It doesn't mention what he paid for the 262, but does say what other planes sold for. If anyone would like I can send it via PM. Regards Vince... |
