Re: Flt Lt D Reid 25 Sqn
He is given as D.W. Reid by Mosquito Fighter / Fighter Bomber Units of World War 2.
There are not many D.W. Reids in the Air Force Lists for 1944, 32062 David W. Reid (W/Cdr) and 113667 Donald W. Reid (rank not given). There is also 148146 D.W. Reed but he appears as R.W. Reed in the LG but only as a Pilot Officer, however he appears in more than 1 issue of the AFL as D.W. |

Hello,
Actually: Distinguished Flying Cross. REID, Douglas Mitchell. FL. (129126). RAFVR. 25 Sqn. London Gazette:9/2/1945.page 818. As Observer, Flight Lieutenant Reid has participated in very many sorties during which he has assisted in the destruction of four enemy aircraft at night. His example of keenness and determination has been most commendable. See: DFC/Carter & Carter/Vol.II/M-Z/p.1395. His fate? 23/1/1945 No.25 Sqn Mosquito NF.XXX MT494 Collided with MV529 during practice interception and crashed Camps Hall, Cambridgeshire. 89635 S/L (Pilot) John ARNSBY DFC RAFVR + 129126 F/L (Nav./Rad.) Douglas Mitchell REID DFC RAFVR + Col. |
Re: Flt Lt D Reid 25 Sqn
He is given as a Flying Officer in the October 1944 AFL, but his trade is given as Navigator.
