To me, this looks like a recovery and scrapping operation. In the immediate post-war period, Allied aircraft were stacked/assembled in this way for recovery of metal in Germany.

#1 looks like L5250 GB-B of 105 Sqn, lost on 14 May 1940. All three crew evaded.

#4 shows the remains of 142 Sqn Battles K7700 and L5242, abandoned on evacuation from Berry-au-Bac on 16 May 1940.
The photo is reversed of course. |
