Who can help

An electric typewriter could have been used in Luftwaffe ground bases.
Anybody there who knows more?

Many thx for your suggestions.

Hello Ginamod,

Please see :

It is a teletype machine, they were replaced by fax machines.

Best regards

Hello

This is the standard teletype used by the whole Wehrmacht, and later by the Bundeswehr, not counting the civilian users. Your exemplar is from before 1945 (after 1946, they are marked "Zuffenhausen", the factory being moved).

It's the German version of the very common US Teletype 15 (largely used by the Allied armies), Lorenz being the license holder. You could find the "receive only" version (without keyboard) in every newspaper room around the world until maybe 1980.

..................and it was called a Fernschreiber, jschreiber.

The U.S. TTY machines were made by Chicago and later by Kleinschmidt. These were not taken to Europe where U.S. Forces used the Lorenz equipment. Back in the 1960's, I must have cut 10-million miles of perforated tape on the old Chicagos and Kleinschmidts. Of the two, the Chicago was by far the better machine, while the Lorenz was equal to or better than the Chicago.

Dear Friends,

I am highly delighted about your worthy replies !!
They really open for me a window to former technics, including WWII use.
Many thanks for your effort.
