XFD-1s

Hello,

Does anyone know anything about possible crash of the two XFD-1 prototypes, Bu.Nos.48235 and 48236.
There are many publications on the FD/FH but no details on possible accident even if two dates can be sometimes found 01 Nov 34 for the 235 and 24 Aug 45 for the 236.

Thanks in anticipation

Phil

Re: XFD-1s

Phil,

BuNo 48236 had a belly landing on 24 Aug 45, pilot safe.

BuNo 48235 crashed on 1 Nov 45, McDonnell test pilot Woodward Burke killed. Both aileron and dual engine failure are mentioned as cause.

Leendert
