"Mystery" Pilot

Recently obtained this photo showing the ground crew painting a new victory mark on a 109. Looks like the pilot is closely observing. There is a previous kill in March 1940 and again on 8 July. right now I can not find a pilot name that has kills that would match. I also tried 5 and 6 July. Looks like the last two numbers in the w.nr. are 53 or 63. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Chuck,

Seems it is Oblt. Joseph "Joschko" Fözö. WNr.1133. 4./JG51 "Weisse 1".
Don't know the date.

Regards, Franck.

If it's Fözö he got his 3rd and 4th Victory the 13th July 1940 and indeed the 2nd the 8th

Thanks folks. That was one of the pilots I looked at but couldn't match him to a kill in March. Any thoughts?

Perhaps the apparent claim in March 1940 was later disallowed?

Re: "Mystery" Pilot

Perhaps. Or my source is bad. There was a kill in April according to what I looked at.
