Miles M.65 Gemini - serial numbers register exist?

Good evening to all members.

Am seeking, if possible, some help to find amongst the 170 Miles M.65 Geminis that were built, how many of the serials were sold to Brazil?

I am trying to match the serial number of a such machine that was acquired and flown here. Sadly the Brazilian Civilian Register (Civilian Aviation) does not keep the old serials available online.

I do not believe too many of those machines were ever sold to Brazil...we may be talking of about one or two machines at the most.

Any help in finding the serial register or the serials that were eventually sold to Brazil are most welcomed.

Adriano

Just found it...
It was serial number 6282, first registered as G-AJOM and sold to Brazil in 1951.
I now have the full details I was looking for

By the way, it was owned by the Gomm Family (related to Wing Commander Cosme Lockwood Gomm, DSO, DFC) and flown regularly down here.

By co-incidence I passed by this request today.

Yes I have full details of all the Geminis produced.
PT-AHT was the only one ever registered in Brasil.

With Gomm the only owner, is it known what really happened to it?
I have it still on the register in Dec 1970 but not so in Dec 1972.

I can only assume it was wfu at some point and scrapped?

Cheers

STIG,

From what I heard from the son of the Gomm owner, last November, when we met for a public presentation on the deeds of the late Wing Commander; he told me that his mother (first Female pilot on Parana State) and his father used it considerably to land on beaches and go to the farm that was apparently acquired by W/C Gomm (probably where he would pass his retreat after the war).

It seems that having some parts of wood, the machine suffered some kind of mechanical problem that could not be solved and was left on "the time". I understood that some spare parts were difficult to obtain....so it may have been later scrapped and sold as so (scrapp). This is really a pitty. I managed to find the same dates that you found. It may have "vanished" from the records, somewhere between 1970-72. We do have one photograph of this machine onto Gomm's biography.

I asked the Family to try to find the Property Documents, etc...related to this machine but it seems those were lost or not found either....so no further clues about it.

Humbly yours

Adriano

Thanks Adriano

Yes that makes sense. The warm and often humid weather in Brasil must have
made the wooden components deteriorate faster than was perhaps expected.

Seems we simply have to accept that it most likely was abandoned in the end by
the Gomm family at some point between the two dates.

Happy New Year Adriano!!
Cheers
Stig
