I am going to Germany & Austria in October, can anyone recommend some good museums to visit that have Luftwaffe aircraft on display.

Re: Museums
This a good place to look:
http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com/ However, these offer 'the best bang for your buck': Luftfahrtmuseum, Laatzen Technikmuseum, Speyer Auto und Technik Museum, Sinsheim Deutsches Museum, Munich Deutschen Technikmuseum, Berlin Luftwaffenmuseums der Bundeswehr, Berlin-Gatow. Deutsches Museum Flugwerft, Schleißheim Regards Chris |
Re: Museums
The Deutsches Museum in Muinch is very good !
Me 163 , Me 262 , Me 109 & a Natter are all on display Lots of engines to including Ta 152 |
Re: Museums
Don't bother going to the Luftwaffe museum at Schleissheim near Munich. Mainly post war jets and very little on WWII German aircraft or history of the airfield as a night fighter base and training facility.

Re: Museums
A small correction would be in place here - the museum at schleissheim is not "Luftwaffe Museum" - the later is located at Gatow - but as you say contain mostly jets etc from after WWII. The Gatow museum does contain though a Bf 109, DFS 230, Bu 181, Fi 156 and a Me 163 among other aircraft.
The Schlessheim museum contain a Do 24, He 111 (Spanish) Fi 156, Bu 131, Bu 181, Bu 133 to list a few and an interesting engine collection - and of course many jets etc dating after the war. The Technical museum in Berlin is highly recommended with Hs 126, Fi 156, Kl 35, Fw 44, Bu 181, Bf 108, 109, 110, Ju 52, engines and an interesting WWI collection too and some missiles. I visited it two weeks ago. /Mikael |
