Homing/carrier pigeons spying on Luftwaffe radars.
A while back an elderly gentleman, who experienced the German occupation of Denmark, told me the following story. During the occupation they would sometimes in the morning find small containers affixed to a parachute containing dead or alive carrier pigeons. Could I please explain.
Here is the rest of the story: http://www.gyges.dk/radars_and_carrier_pigeons.htm bregds SES |
Re: Homing/carrier pigeons spying on Luftwaffe radars.
Hi Ses,
I've similar reports of dropped pigeons in Norhwest Holland. 138 and 161 (Special Duties) Squadron dropped those pigeons during their nocturnal supply missions for the resistance in the occupied countries. I've no indication, however, that radar sites were the main objective. Regards, Hans Nauta |

Hi Hans,
Thank you very much and you are right. Radarstations was only one objective on the questionaire. It contained questions on German military activity in general incl. radarsattions. bregds SES |
