B-24 shot down March 5, 1944 by JG2?

Hello,

I have spent years researching the downing my grandfather's B-24 southeast of Bordeaux, France on March 5, 1944.

I am interested in trying to determine which Luftwaffe fighter unit and, perhaps, the specific pilot involved in the engagement.

According to Tony Woods' site list, there were three B-24's downed on March 5, 1944. Pilots from 7/JG2 were credited with kills:

5.3.44 - Ltn - Hans-Joachim Eichmann - 7 - JG2 - B-24 - KT:4500m (La Chataigneraie)
5.3.44 - Uffz - Gunther Marsfelde - 7 - JG2 - B-24 - KT: 7000m (La Chataigneraie)
5.3.44 - Ofw - Willi Morzinek - 7 - JG2 - B-24 - 3km NW Echire b Niort: 4000m

I have not been able to find any other German pilots involved in B-24 shootdowns on that day. What puzzles me about the aforementioned kills is that my grandfather's plane went down southeast of Bordeaux. According to my map reading (which may be shaky), the locations listed above are all well north of Bordeaux.

Any information or input here would be greatly appreciated. Did one of the JG2 pilots above get the kill? Was another Luftwaffe unit involved in the attack?

This link provides more info on the incident. Notice that the top turret gunner in my grandfather's plane was given an FW 190 kill (whether it was an FW 190 or an Me 109 might be debatable).

I have just PM'd Elbert but it would appear that 4 B-24s were lost over France-off what would become Omaha Beach, La Croix Comtesse, Dieulivol (Elbert's Grandfather) and Benet. Disallowing the one off Omaha Beach, Benet matches well with Morzinek's kill and La Croix Comtesse matches with the La Chataigneraie claims so perhaps one of these latter 2 has been mis-typed after the event so either Eichmann or Marsfelde were the victors
